San Pedro offers a fantastic, authentic culinary contrast. The traditional town center is packed with bustling, affordable tapas bars like Savor and local churrerías, while the modern pedestrian boulevard and flat beachside avenues host trendy gastro-pubs, Italian bistros, and chic chiringuitos like Bora Bora. Nightlife is lively and local, focusing on relaxed evening drinks and terrace dining rather than flashy mega-clubs.
Schools:
The area is exceptionally well-served for families. Laude San Pedro International College is located right in the beachside residential zone, offering both British and Spanish curricula. The highly regarded Calpe School caters to primary-aged children nearby, and multiple excellent public Spanish schools are scattered throughout the town.
Healthcare:
The town features a large, modern public health center (Centro de Salud San Pedro). For private care, several international clinics operate in the area, and the comprehensive Hospital HRE in Estepona or Quirónsalud in Marbella are both roughly 10 minutes away in either direction.
Getting around:
San Pedro is one of the most delightfully walkable towns on the entire coast. If you live beachside or in the center, you can comfortably walk to the beach, supermarkets, schools, and restaurants without a vehicle. For traveling further afield, the main bus routes pass right through the town, and the A-7 tunnel hides transit traffic under the boulevard, connecting you to Puerto Banús in 3 minutes.
